Trump Demands George Soros, Son Face Federal Charges

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for federal racketeering charges against billionaire philanthropist George Soros and his son Alexander Soros, accusing them of supporting protest movements across the United States.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump suggested the pair should face charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly known as RICO, which is typically used to prosecute organized criminal activity.

“George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of violent protests and much more throughout the United States,” Trump wrote. He did not provide evidence to support the allegation.

Longstanding Political Target

George Soros, a major Democratic donor and founder of the Open Society Foundations, has long been a frequent target of criticism from conservative politicians and commentators because of his financial support for progressive causes, voting rights groups, and criminal justice reform initiatives.

His son, Alexander Soros, has taken on a more prominent leadership role in the family’s philanthropic network in recent years and is widely seen as continuing his father’s political and charitable activities.

Earlier this year, former President Joe Biden awarded George Soros the Presidential Medal of Freedom, recognizing his philanthropic work and contributions to civil society.

Protest Incident in Florida

Trump’s comments came as protests related to U.S. foreign policy and military operations continued in several locations around the country. One small demonstration took place outside the headquarters of Palantir Technologies in Aventura, Florida, near Miami.

During the protest, participants were seen striking a piñata resembling Trump while others looked on. The gathering was organized by activists critical of U.S. military policy and technology companies that support defense operations.

Palantir, a government contractor, provides data analytics and artificial intelligence systems used by U.S. military and intelligence agencies. One of its best-known initiatives is Project Maven, which uses machine learning to analyze large volumes of surveillance and battlefield data.

Claims of Organized Protest Networks

Some commentators and analysts have argued that certain protest movements opposing military contractors are part of broader activist networks supported by wealthy donors and nonprofit organizations. Critics claim these groups coordinate messaging and demonstrations across multiple cities using shared resources and funding.

Others dispute that characterization, saying protest coalitions often consist of independent grassroots organizations with diverse funding sources and political motivations.

Organizations mentioned in connection with the Florida demonstration include the Party for Socialism and Liberation, which has publicly criticized U.S. foreign policy and military intervention abroad.

Ongoing Political Debate

Trump’s remarks add to the broader political debate surrounding political donations, protest movements, and the role of nonprofit organizations in public activism.

Legal experts note that pursuing charges under the RICO statute would require prosecutors to demonstrate a coordinated criminal enterprise engaged in illegal acts — a high legal threshold that has historically been applied primarily in cases involving organized crime, corruption, or large-scale fraud.

Neither George Soros nor Alexander Soros immediately responded publicly to Trump’s latest accusations.

"A LITTLE EXCURSION": TRUMP’S SHOCKING WAR CONFESSION... 🤐🌍 Former President Donald Trump faced a series of pointed questions from reporters this week during a visit to an industrial packaging facility in Ohio, where the discussion shifted from economic policy to the escalating U.S. military conflict involving Iran. The appearance was part of a broader tour in which Trump has been defending his administration’s economic record and arguing that inflation and rising living costs will soon stabilize. However, the focus quickly turned to foreign policy after journalists asked about the ongoing military operations connected to Iran. During his remarks, Trump described the recent military campaign in unusual terms, referring to it as “a little excursion” that lasted several weeks. He suggested the limited operation was necessary and said the U.S. economy had weathered the situation better than expected. “We did a little excursion,” Trump told reporters. “A couple weeks, a few weeks of excursion… but it’s doing well. The market is holding up well. I thought we might be hit harder, but we were hit less than expected and we’ll be back on track pretty soon.” Reporters pressed the former president for clarification, pointing out what appeared to be conflicting descriptions. One journalist asked whether the situation should be described as a war or as the “excursion” Trump had referenced in his comments. Trump responded that the situation could be viewed as both, saying the operation was intended to prevent a larger war. “It’s both,” he said. “It’s an excursion that will keep us out of a war. And the war is going to be — for them it’s a war. For us it turned out to be easier than we thought.” The exchange quickly spread across social media, where critics argued that the comments reflected confusion about the scale of the conflict. Supporters, however, said Trump was simply emphasizing that the operation was limited in scope compared with a broader regional war. Meanwhile, economic concerns remain closely tied to the conflict. Energy markets have reacted to the instability in the Middle East, and officials have warned that disruptions to oil shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz could continue affecting global energy prices. As the conflict continues, analysts say the political debate surrounding both the war and the economy is likely to intensify. With rising energy costs and ongoing military tensions shaping headlines, the administration faces growing pressure to clarify its strategy both abroad and at home.
